POWERPOTPLANT

2020

This work is inspired by the Girlpool song powerplant, and a trip to the La Trobe Valley to survey the community about their thoughts on the future of the area after the closure of coal mines, and visited the Hazelwood smoke stacks before they were demolished on 25 May 2020. To me, the hand is so symbolic, here specifically it stands for power and community.

This hand has been made hollow, so it can be up-turned and planted into, then strung up as a pot plant. Bringing new life to the space.
